Description

Bitmap Books is proud to present The Unofficial SNES Pixel Book. Created in collaboration with German publisher Elektrospieler this lavish, 272-page volume celebrates the golden age of 16-bit gaming on Nintendo’s ultra-popular home console.

The book, which has been painstakingly translated from the original German text, features in-depth articles exploring the major genres to be found in the SNES’s huge portfolio of games. These are accompanied by tens of thousands of screenshots, specially taken, composed and selected for this volume, comprising a combination of single images, cut-outs, sprawling montages and gigantic level maps.

So, whether as a colossal spaceship, multi-screen boss monster, giant fortress, or comprehensive level overview, you can admire your favourite games and characters in ways rarely seen before. The book features a huge number of titles, from obscure oddities to the biggest classics, including Street Fighter II, Super Mario World, Super Castlevania IV, Axelay, Chrono Trigger, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Final Fantasy VI – all beautifully presented and preserved for eternity.

The many games have been grouped by genre, alongside thoughtful and fascinating insights into the evolution of genres and design trends, and their impact on today’s video game landscape. Overall, the project represents the culmination of many years’ work by its authors, Robert Bannert and Christine Bauer, and translator Thomas Nickel.

The book is offered in hardback with a spot-varnished protective slipcase, and is produced to Bitmap Books’ usual superlative standards.

(THE UNOFFICIAL SNES Pixel book)You pay for what you get and with BITMAP it’s quality

So I’m sitting at my computer and I own about 30+ art books most are DarkHorse and from Amazon and surprisingly I’ve had pretty good luck with their shipping but usually they just throw the book in a box that is too big with some brown paper sometimes not even that. so I have that too at least 5–10 times start a return and just do our placement which is free but I do have to drive to the UPS store and drop the book off. With BITMAP it may be the best packaging I’ve ever seen the box showed up in a 100% recyclable brown box that was the perfect size for it with the logo on one side and on the other side some pixel art and a very easy to pull tab after that it was in another box that said thank you for your order and consider leaving a review and it had the same very easy tear here to open tab. And then it came wrapped in beautiful green paper with the logo pattern on it, and each corner of the book had heavy duty protectors on it. Like even if your mailman dropped your book and accidentally ran it over it would probably still let up in perfect condition and you can just tell the heart and passion that the people at the company have not only the books. Very high-quality hardcover, binding, and paper.

Well, if you made it this far, I did wanna make a shout out to how I found out about BITMAP

i’ve been listening to Game Scoop! for about I don’t know about 10 years. Listening every Friday for the last five years for sure. my favorite part is 20 questions where users can…

    Throwback to my youth

This book is created with so much love for the snes that it reads so smooth.

The choice to work not per genre but with a game and all what is derived from it is just so great.

I hope someone will create a sortlike book for the NES.
