Description

It would be a massive understatement to say that the Super Nintendo (SNES) had a formidable act to follow when it arrived at the dawn of the 1990s. Nintendo's previous console, the NES (or Famicom, as it was known in its native Japan), enjoyed seven years of almost unrivalled dominance following its initial launch in Japan in 1983; by 1990 it had almost single-handedly rehabilitated the home video game market, turning Nintendo into a household name across the globe.

Focussing on the Super Famicom in Japan and the SNES across North America and Europe, SNES/Super Famicom: a visual compendium offers a visual snapshot of the best games, developers, box art and product design from across these territories. As the name suggests, we’ve concentrated on the stunning visuals contained in SNES/Famicom games, alongside text snapshots and anecdotes. The result is a visual companion designed to stir up excitement and nostalgia for this fantastic machine and its legacy of classic games.

The SNES/Super Famicom: a visual compendium measures 170mm × 230mm and its 500+ pages are printed lithographically to the highest standards. This ensures that colours in the book are really vibrant and pages have a high-quality, luxurious feel to them. It also comes with four Super Famicom coloured bookmark ribbons and a 3mm protective board slipcase with animated-effect lenticular images.

Includes contributions from:
Masanori Adachi, Martin Alessi, Ryouji Amano, Colin Anderson, Kazuhiko Aoki, Sophia Aubrey Drake, Gregg Barnett, Kev Bayliss, Matt Bielby, Gary Bracey, Ritchie Brannan, Thomas Brockhage, Michael Brook, Jason Brookes, Nick Bruty, Simon Butler, Samuel Claiborn, Nigel Cook, Don Coyner, Dylan Cuthbert, Jonathan Davies, Samwise Didier, Julian Eggebrecht, Brian Fehdrau, Greg Ford, John Gillin, David Giltinan, Giles Goddard, Steve Harris, Andrew Hayward, Kevin Henderson, Yuji Horii, Keiji Inafune, Taichi Ishizuka, Shigesato Itoi, Steve Jarratt, Eugene Jarvis, Robert Jerauld, Sam Kennedy, Hiroki Kikuta, Yoshiro Kimura, Mike Koelsch, Hideki Konno, Hifumi Kono, Ned Langman, James Leach, Tim Lindquist, Frank Matzke, Gregg Mayles, Steve Mayles, Damien McFerran, Mick McGinty, Trickman’ Terry Minnich, Masatoshi Mitori, Shigeru Miyamoto, Tomoyoshi Miyazaki, Jun Nagashima, Toshihiko Nakago, Satoshi Nakai, Akira Nishitani, Soyo Oka, Jeff Peters, Howard Philips, Ste Pickford, Julian Rignall, Andy Roberts, Stephen Robertson, Perry Rodgers, Kelly Rogers, Hironobu Sakaguchi, Yoshio Sakamoto, Jez San, Greg Sewart, Hidenori Shibao, Yoko Shimomura, Mark Stevenson, Michael Stragey, Chris Sutherland, Masayuki Suzuki, Phil Theobald, Gail Tilden, John Tobias, Takashi Tokita, Masahiro Ueno, Yasuhiro Wada, David Warhol, Krister Wombell, Ted Woolsey, Robert Workman, Will Wright, Kinuyo Yamashita, Kouji Yokota and Mario Zavala.

A nice collector's book for the SNES lovers

Good size (a little bit smaller than the SNES Pixel Book) , good quality and full of really sharp images. And rly love the front design of this book. A pleasant surprise to read. Great packaging for shipping and fast delivery to NL.

*I also recommend the SNES Pixel Book for the enthusiast

For evey snes fanatics this is a must!

Love it! Really good quality! The hard shell helps to protect the nice new scent. The stories and interviews are interesting and fun to read, i checked out many of them even the ones that are about title that are not my cup of tea! If you are an 80's or a 90's kid and you own(ed) a snes, this book will be a pleasure to read, and to go back in time and reminiscene of your childhood memories!

A fine trip down memory lane for all those who grew up with the SNES!

A must for those of us who grew up with the SNES console, it is full of pixel art and interviews with some of the developers of the time. Screenshots of 16-bit classics unlock memories. The luxury binding and details such as the integrated divider with the colors of the Super Famicom or the lenticular print cover art attest to the attention to detail that the publisher puts into it.
